Giotto USA proudly presents the Giotto Image 3D, with a truly innovative design that makes possible better patient care, easier work for technologists and superior image quality. It is truly “Patient Friendly Mammography”.

Giotto 3D Digital Mammography

IMS of Bologna, Italy, the developers of Giotto, has been fully dedicated to designing and manufacturing mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy equipment for more than 18 years. IMS’s Research and Development team has pioneered many improvements and innovations, including being the first to use the Amorphous Selenium Digital Detector for mammography which is now the market standard.

Now, with the perfection of the ring-shaped, tilting gantry, Giotto offers a more pleasant mammography experience for patients along with quick and easy positioning for technologists.

  • INSIGHT VIEW™ Giotto’s new image processing software coupled with our second generation Selenium2 Detector technology produces beautiful mammography images with greater potential to visualize small micro calcifications.
  • Inclined Positioning increases the amount of retro mammary tissue that can be visualized. The inclined gantry allows the breast to relax facilitating easy positioning onto the bucky allowing more tissue near the chest wall to be visualized.

Technologists and patients prefer Face-to-Face positioning

  • face to face position
    Face-to-Face Position easier for
    both patient and technologist
Face-to-Face Positioning (pdf)” makes the mammography experience more pleasant and less threatening for patients. Being face to face with the technologists is more natural and comfortable. Putting the patient at ease creates an environment where greater success, in imaging, is achieved.
  • “Face-to-Face positioning” also makes it possible for the technologist to see the patient’s breast better and move the patient into the correct position with ease and efficiency, resulting in increased patient comfort (pdf).
  • After each exposure in the examination, with the touch of a single button the technologist can quickly and accurately move the gantry from one position to the next. The automatic motions of the Giotto 3D isocentric height control can be customized into automatic sequences making the examination take much less time.
  • Fast and easy. Giotto fully meets the demands of busy mammography departments with high patient throughput, such as screening units. Four control panels placed in strategic locations on the unit make it possible to control manual and automatic movements from any position.

The way all mammography systems should be designed.

A touch of a button on the handy control panel allows quick and easy adjustments to the best position for the patient and the breast.
  • Work related injuries for technologists are reduced. With the traditional “side by side method” of positioning, the technologist often has difficultly seeing the entire breast. The technologist is required to bend, stoop, kneel on one knee, push, pull and prod the patients. These motions are part of every mammography technologist’s daily routine. Many technologists develop neck, shoulder and/or back injuries from positioning. It is difficult work. The Face-to-Face positioning allows much of this difficult work tobe eliminated. The technologist can see the breast easily without awkward positionsand moving the patient is no longer a demanding requirement.
  • Mammography technologists are dedicated and hard working and rarely complain even though positioning mammograms can be very difficult and tiring work. For most technologists this difficult work is “just part of the job.” However, the hard work can take its toll. Often theworking life of a mammography technologist is limited by the strain of the work. Until Giotto, there was no alternative. Giotto can make positioning mammograms, almost effortless.

All other mammographic units were engineered with the same goal-producing an image. Giotto Image 3D was created to generate a better image by designing our system based on the needs of the patient and technologist. Making the experience of both patient and technologist one of ease and comfort results in a better image every time.
